One lip touches another. They touch upon. One word placed next to another and then another produces sound and the texture of meaning not restricted to the confines of chronology. Girl is an open invitation to host the Other. She becomes other in herself while multiplying her capacity to reside elsewhere.
As Catherine Driscoll suggests in her book Girls,
"The feminine adolescent desires her-self as she might become—a potential visualized in connection to other girls and constructed through observation of her own and other girls’ bodies."
