Nura Qureshi was born and raised in Germany but studied and lived in the US for the past eight years. After attending the Academy of Art University in San Francisco she moved to New York and started working as a photojournalist for an Evangelical Christian newspaper documenting the religious scene around election time. Since then she has been taking portraits of children, women and their portrayal by the media and involved herself in the street scene of Crown Heights photographing drug dealers and underground hip hop artist. Currently she is involved in the Atlantic Yards Project portraying the people affected by the plan for a basketball arena.
